Statement from Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day on the death of a Laval police officer
March 02, 2007
Ottawa- Today, the Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, issued this statement following the death of Daniel Tessier, a Laval police officer, and the wounding of a second officer, Stephane Forbes, both shot during an alleged drug ring investigation.
“Today, on behalf of the Government of Canada and all Canadians, I wish to pay tribute to Daniel Tessier who tragically lost his life while protecting the people of his community. Mr. Tessier will be remembered for his courage, bravery and dedication. This tragic death serves as a reminder of the dangers our police officers face while protecting us from those who have no respect for the lives of others. My heart goes out to the family, friends and colleagues of this brave officer who gave his life in the line of duty. We are forever grateful for the outstanding service of Mr. Tessier.” |
