Stockwell Day welcomes start of construction for new West Kelowna Public Safety Building

WEST KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA,
The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister responsible for the Asia-Pacific Gateway joined Ben Stewart, Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia for Westside-Kelowna and District of West Kelowna Mayor Doug Findlater to break ground on the Westside Public Safety Building, a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as the new RCMP detachment for the area.

“Today’s ground-breaking event marks an important step forward in replacing obsolete facilities, consolidating operations and improving police services in one of Canada's fastest growing communities,” said Minister Day. “The construction of this new facility will help ensure that law enforcement have the tools and resources necessary to keep our communities safe.”
 
It is anticipated that the new facility will be fully operational within 12 to 14 months. More than 40 provincial, municipal and First Nation policing members will be located in the new detachment, covering off a broad range of responsibilities.
